Regulatory topics
- Community calls on regulatory topics in the blockchain and crypto space started yesterday and will take place every first Wednesday of the month at 6PM CET.
- The first one was yesterday about MiCA
- The next Twitter space from Flipping burgers will handle US regulation
Shimmer Community Grant Committee proposal
**Grant committee selection process**
- Needs more clarity on some points
- A poll in the application post will get more activity than a regular post for people to like
- Instead of requiring an application post with a certain amount of likes to pass to ph2, a yes/no poll will be added to the post
- It may happen that something has 20 likes but 200 votes
- Social media handles like Twitter, Discord included in the application letter and post for the vote
- To confirm the social media account, an activity from it such as posting the link to the application will be required
- Can work as spam protection as well
- The minimum age needs to match Swiss legislation since the KYC process etc. will be there
- Option to proceed with 21 “to be on the safe side” since it’s possible to be prosecuted as a minor possible until 21 in some countries
- Phase 2
- Candidates with a minimum of 50 yes votes instead of 20 on an application post will be included in a multiple-choice poll for the grant reviewers, and one for the project lead
- Top 20 or everyone with 50 votes
- Poll duration: 7-14 days
- Reviewer poll
- Changed to allow up to 4 votes (rather than requiring 4 votes)
- Avoids randomly voting for people without actually supporting them
- Trust level 1 required for ph2 voting
- Anonymous voting
- The poll should reach 100 votes
Next steps
- The applications should be up in the forum so people can start applying by next week
- 3 weeks application time
- The poll would be a week - otherwise it will get too late in the year with the upcoming Christmas holidays
