Meeting Minute Writer: DeepSea (JD Sutton)
Next Meeting: 15-December, 2022
TO-DO FOR NEXT MEETING:
- [ ] Phylo work on update to communicate to community. (Waiting on clarification to work under the TEA).
- [ ] Phylo (if he is updated at the status of the TEA umbrella possibility) will put up version 3 of Treasury framework. *Note: He was not updated.
- [ ] JD to reach out to the Lichtenstein legal firm per Adam’s contact info.
- [ ] Linus - To reach out to their contact at Mi-Dao in Marshall Islands to see if they are willing to talk with us.
- [ ] Werner - Will write up an article about Strategic Funding.
- [x] JD to reach out to Mark Schmidt about getting financial support for legal consultant from the TEA to support the Governance community meeting and give some informed information about where to form the DAO. (Mark stated this is viable option).
- [x] JD to reach out to Mark about coming to a meeting to discuss funding strategies. I talked to Mark and we discussed this. He is open to joining a meeting. He thinks it is good that our Treasury focuses on funding initiatives other than the TEA. That the TEA focuses on boring stuff such as: developer infrastructure, UI (ie. ledger live and Gnosis integration), education, etc. Where the community treasury should maybe take bigger risks.
Minutes
Legal Entity Discussion:
- We discussed what the two critical paths and challenges that prevents the Treasury from being able to fund grant proposals.
- Firefly Governance Release
- Legal Entity Formation
- We are still waiting to have a meeting with Anja to confirm we can start funding under the TEA in the interim.
- We discussed how to move forward and gain consensus with where to form the Community Treasury DAO and that we will focus our energy by researching three specific countries.
- Switzerland (as an Association)
- Lichtenstein
- Marshall Islands
- We discussed as to what we need as a group to be able to come to a consensus and feel that we made an informed decision. We can research and google all day long but ultimately we need professional legal advice. We agreed to try and find a legal consultant that is from, or specializes in these areas.
- DeepSea (JD Sutton) stated that he has reached out to Svetlink from LexDao and is trying to get approval through their Legal Clinic (ie. non-profit) and have a LexDao house give us 30 minutes or an hour to discuss what they have experience with, but of course no direct legal advice.
